Call for Presentations
Practitioners and academicians/researchers alike are encouraged to submit a proposal to present a workshop, panel, or poster. Proposals will be reviewed by the ASV presentation committee with preference given to proposals that stress a link between research and practice.
The proposals must be submitted in the format of the submission form below and will consist of a title, an abstract (50-100 words), and the preferred presentation method. Presenters must register and pay all fees for the symposium. Complimentary registrations will not be given and acceptance of submission is contingent upon registration. Specifics regarding time, location, and provided resources will be sent to accepted submissions. All submissions must be received by February 1, 2007. Presenters will be notified of acceptance.
Workshop Presentations
Workshop presentation sessions will be 30 or 60 minutes with time allocated for audience questions. In order to publish a symposium proceedings document in a timely fashion, persons submitting workshop presentations agree to submit a 4-5 page (double-spaced) paper with references by March 11, 2007. Information about how to submit papers will be provided for accepted proposals.
Panel Presentations
Panel presentation sessions consist of four to six presenters on the same topic. Each presenter makes a formal presentation of 10 to 15 minutes with time allocated at the end for audience questions. You may either formulate a panel or the ASV may comprise a panel based on similar submissions.
Poster Presentations
A poster presentation is a visual display of a subject matter. Each poster presenter will have one six-foot table and presenters must provide their own display materials. Poster presentations should be displayed prior to the start of the symposium and presenters are expected to be by their displays during the dedicated time at the end of the first day in order to discuss the presentation with interested viewers. The ASV issues an award to the best poster presentation with the winner announced during the awards dinner.
Exhibits
Publishing companies, consulting firms, service organizations, and other entities that offer products or services related to victim issues are encouraged to exhibit. Exhibits will be placed in an area with regular access to the symposium registrants. Exhibits include one six-foot table though additional tables are available for a modest fee. A limited number of tables will have electrical access; exhibitors must provide their own extension cords. The cost for an exhibit table is $255 and an extra table is $50.
Exhibit applications must be submitted via email using the submission form available below by March 11, 2007. Only exhibits related to victim issues will be considered and exhibitors will be notified of acceptance. Exhibitors are encouraged to also register as a symposium participant for full participation in the program and will be given a $25 discount off the regular registration price.
An information table will be available for those organizations that wish to provide information but cannot be available to exhibit. Information table applicants must complete the exhibit submission form and the same criterion for acceptance applies. The ASV will not be responsible for the return of leftover materials. The cost to use the information table is $35.
Organizations are also invited to underwrite breaks, receptions, and dinners. Organizations should contact the ASV to discuss sponsorship options.
