Alicia Nichols
Alicia Nichols is the Director of Training and Communications in the Minnesota Department of Public Safety Office of Justice Programs (OJP). In her work, Ms. Nichols provides analysis and leadership to the crime victim and criminal justice communities in Minnesota to determine training and technical assistance needs. Her focus is to proactively develop short and long term strategies to support the technical assistance needs of providers while maintaining high quality consistent, victim-centered services. She directs annual events including the Office of Justice Programs Conference on Crime and Victimization, the Minnesota Victim Assistance Academy, Crime Victim Rights Week activities including Art of Recovery as well as topic specific training, technical assistance and capacity building.
Ms. Nichols has experience in sexual violence advocacy, training development and technical assistance, capacity building in the areas of membership and diversity, and family reunification and truancy issues impacting runaway and homeless youth in the Twin Cities area.
Ms. Nichols is a graduate of St. Cloud State University with a bachelor's degree in Social Work with a minor in Human Relations and Multicultural Education. She is currently pursuing a master's in Public and Nonprofit Administration with an emphasis in Victimology from Metropolitan State University. Ms. Nichols is a 2010 graduate of the National Victim Assistance Academy. She is licensed by the State of Minnesota as a Social Worker.
